The CD4 unit is designed for deploying parachutes and recovery items in high power and amateur rockets at any altitude. From sea level to space. You now have a system available to do so safely and without damage to your expensive rocket and recovery components. And, never have to smell and clean the black powder residue from the rockets components.
Another benefit of the CD4 system is the elimination of Nomex protection parachute cloths and recovery line protection sleeves. These items often consume valuable recovery volume and never completely protect the recovery items from the burning of the pyrogen- black powder. Your expensive parachutes and recovery items can now be used many years with no damages.
The CD4 system can be mounted to an avionics bay with the CO2 cartridge inside the avionics bay for optimizing space. Or, it can be tethered to a shock cord or other item in the recovery bay.
The CD4 is compatible with any flight computer or other electronic device that has outputs for firing electric matches. In addition, the CD4 is made to accept any electric match on the market with no problem.
The newest revision of the CO2 ejection system (CD4) is now lighter, smaller and uses less pyrogen. We have made the e-match holders out of Delrin instead of stainless steel, for weight. The new CD4 also uses less pyrogen. This re-design produced better results vs the older CD3.
Remember to always ground test your rocket to insure that the ejection of your recovery items and the separation of rocket components is adequate.
